The Role

Feather Weather is seeking a talented and driven Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining the scalable infrastructure behind our AI-powered weather analytics platform. You’ll work closely with data scientists, frontend developers, and product teams to ensure our systems are robust, fast, and efficient.

What You’ll Do


  • Design and implement scalable backend systems and APIs to power our weather insights platform.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines that process large volumes of weather data in real-time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between backend systems and user-facing applications.
  • Work with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to maintain a high-availability infrastructure.
  • Ensure security, performance, and reliability across all backend services.
  • Debug and resolve complex issues, improving system stability and scalability.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and decision-making process for backend architecture.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with a strong understanding of scalable system design.
  • Proficiency in languages like Python, Go, or Java.
  • Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and designing efficient data models.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with real-time data processing or streaming frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and best practices.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
